Whipworms, Not Natural Balance Dog Food!

by Olivia Baker
(Hartford, Alabama)

My little one has been getting sick with upset stomach and so on. After several trips to vet thinking it must be food; we use Natural Balance.

Well people let me tell you, it's not the food!

Finally one vet said they might have whipworms because we're now keeping a yorkie and she got sick. We're still doctoring both.

You see it's not the Natural Balance Dog Food. I'm so upset because people need to start reading up on these problems. My friend next door lost her dog because of whipworms.

You can read sites that blame Natural Balance for their pets getting these problems. NOT TRUE. Do your homework.

Sick dogs
by: Debbie W.

We also have a yorkie and she had the same symptoms. Vomiting and bloody diarrhea. Very severe.

Vet gave meds and I also used Pepto. I also put her on a probiotic. She refused to eat for three days and finally I got her to eat chicken and rice before returning to her dog food. Vet also did blood work and it came back normal. I wormed her with Panacure and she was better soon. I did not know about the whipworms.

Soon after that, my sons two dogs that come to my home during the week while he works, came down with the same thing. It was really bad!

Now everyone is better and I knew it had to be a virus or something but I never thought about whiworms.

Thank you, Olivia, for the information.

Olivia with an update
by: Anonymous

This is Olivia with an update.

My dogs are well due to two treatments of Panacur. They are eating Natural Balance dog food.

Now I found out some info I need to share with you.

You see, not all heartworm medications protect them from whipworms - there are only about three that do. Ask the vet. In places that are humid, you can have whipworms.

My two dogs are back to normal. Be safe, just change to a heart guard that will kill whipworms. I now use Interceptor.
