Need expert advice on high protein dog foods

Hello, I am wondering if high(er) protein dog foods such as Taste of the Wild and others, are ok to feed to older dogs.

Does the higher protein benefit a particular age of dog more than others OR is it a good idea to give the high protein to all ages of dogs (not with kidney problems)?

Protein and older dogs
by: Deanna B.

I have recently switched my old dog to a higher protein diet also. I have been doing a LOT of dog food research lately because I want to feed a better quality food to my dogs.

I have never been one to switch my older dogs to senior food (because it was inconvenient) and now all the reading I'm doing suggests that older dogs NEED more protein because their old bodies aren't utilizing everything in their food.

I started switching foods about 3 weeks ago and have seen no indications that he is having a hard time at all with the food. He LOVES the flavor (he got duck, something new for him!) and I will say that his coat is looking shinier.

Good luck!

Deanna
