DFW Pug Rescue Club

by Vanessa Boehler
(The Colony, TX )

Who are we? We are DFW Pug Rescue Club! We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of Pugs in need. Our mission is to rescue neglected, homeless, unwanted, sick or injured Pugs, rehabilitate them and place them in loving, permanent homes in the surrounding Dallas/Fort Worth area.

DFWPRC is the largest pug rescue organization in the United States and has rescued and placed over 4,800 huggable, squeezable, absolutely adorable pugs — we rescue approximately 10 pugs a week. We rescue ALL pugs regardless of age or medical condition. Since we rescue ALL pugs, our veterinary care is our biggest on-going expense and we average approximately $100,000 a year in veterinary expenses. This amount is after our veterinary care clinics provide deep discounts. 100% of all funds donated to DFW Pug Rescue are used to pay for Veterinary care. All pugs rescued by DFWPRC are taken immediately to the vet where they are examined, tested (and treated) for heartworm, vaccinated, micro-chipped, sterilized, and rabies shots administered before being placed in a foster or permanent home. We strive to educate the public about the Pug dog breed, to encourage responsible pet ownership, and to see to it that any Pug that comes through our rescue ends up in a
caring, committed environment.

In the past 12 years we have rescued, rehomed, relocated and rehabilitated over 4,800 pugs. And while we celebrate our many success stories, we still must confront the challenge of our current economic crisis. We are taking in unprecedented numbers of pugs over the last year. We continue to have over 80 dogs in foster homes waiting for forever families. The list of people wanting to surrender their dogs continues to grow. Economic problems are bringing DFW Pug Rescue Club even more owner surrendered pugs, especially those with special needs. If we are to be able to take all the pugs who need to come into rescue, then we need help!

We maintain a Certificate of Good Standing with the Texas State Comptroller’s Office. DFW Pug Rescue Club, Inc. is a non-profit corporation with Federal Tax Exemption as a public charity under Section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. DFWPRC is not affiliated or sponsored by any national or local breed clubs.

Please consider helping us in this challenge and let us continue to do our job and help these precious babies. With your support, we can make a difference in the lives of these pugs and the future of the animal population. Visit our website at www.dfwpugs.com for more information.

Above and Beyond

This group of volunteers really work together to make things happen...there is always someone willing to go pick up a surrendered pug, foster a pug, transport a pug or work a meet and greet, or fundraising event for the pugs...the vet bills have increased so much because of some of the dogs they have rescued...Keep up the outstanding work!

DFW Pug Rescue

DFW Pug Rescue's motto "We rescue ALL pugs regardless of age or medical condition" has been the anchor that has separated this group from other dog rescue groups. The shelters know this, the volunteers know this and with over 4800 rescues, the general public is becoming aware that this group is dedicated to giving every pug a "second chance at life." Please support this group as they desperately need the money to pay for veterinary care. 100% of the donations is spent on vet bills.

I adopted a pug from this group 3 years ago and I have been fostering but haven't found the right companion for my current pug. I am touched by the work that this group does, it is amazing the number of dogs they rescue and rehome. Keep up the great work!

Pugs are the best!
by: Heather White

This group really goes out of their way to rescue any pug, regardless of medical condition and they have taken in numerous owner surrenders because of the economy. This group really pulls together when times are tough, to make sure no pug is left behind! Pugs rule!

These people are committed - and crazy about their pugs! If more people were as passionate about saving animals we wouldn't have the overcrowded shelters and challenges we have today!

Simply the best!
by: Must love pugs!

I moved to the DFW area about 2 years ago. I stumbled upon the DFW pug rescue website by mistake, and being owned by a couple of pugs of course I had to check it out. I attended a couple of their events and was very impressed by the way they care for the pugs, love them, and make absolutely certain that the ones that are going out for adoption are going to loving caring homes. I also like their motto "no pug left behind". No matter the issues, or injuries, or problems, they WILL NOT turn away any pug for any reason. That is why DFW pug rescue is the best, and the fact they they are non profit makes me love them and what they do that much more.

DFW Pug Rescue and it's volunteers or should I say servants are some of the most dedicated folks I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Their profound dedication and love for the breed is unbelievable. They will do whatever it takes to make sure that every Pug finds a good forever home and is taken care of no matter what the cost. Keep up the great work DFW PRC the Pug babies couldn't do it without you!

DFW Pug Rescue is an all volunteer organization that truly loves and cares for all Pugs, big or small, fat or skinny, healthy or unhealthy. They have worked hard to bring so many Pugs back to emotional and physical health and have given so many Pugs good lives after years of neglect and/or torment. They work hard to make sure that every Pug that comes into their care leaves healthy and happy!

Phenomenal Group
by: Carol DeBacker

I got my little pug dog from DFW Pug Rescue. He is the greatest thing ever. He had stage 3 heartworm and after the rescue took care of him he was well. I now work with the group and I cannot believe the dedication and effort put forth by the foster parents, volunteers and the vets we work with. The little aforementioned pug with the broken jaw is now being fostered by one of my friends. The rescue has taken a tiny little fractured life and given it hope for the future. This is very very typical of the group. We all say "Its all about the Puggies" and it really is. Never do they give up on one of the Pug angels, never do they turn one away. Please consider this group for a donation, it is quite deserving. Thanks!

No Pug Left Behind
by: Judy Bailey

I believe that the DFW Pug Rescue should get a vote from me is because they never let any pug or pug cross go unrescued no matter what. They always take every dog. They have taken dogs that were left on the doorstep of the humane society in Ft. Worth, who had really bad health problems. And is now still with us. They rescued one that had her jaw broken by its owner, other words come to mind, and still needs even more surgeries. Surprisingly these little angels all get a place to go, either in a foster and then hopefully a forever home. All applicants for adoption are researched and cleared before they are allowed to take home one of the angels. We all want forever homes for all animals. But it takes a lot of work and money, and all of the animal rescues are being hit hard. But no dog is ever put down just because there is no room. They always find a place for them. But like I said it all costs money and a lot of love. Love we have, but sure could always use more money. Please consider the DFW Pug Rescue. Thanks.

Best organization in DFW
by: Jenna

The DFW Pug Rescue is the hardest working, most generous animal group I've ever been involved with. Its members are out and about nonstop, especially every weekend, working hard to raise money and give support to the dozens of abandoned pugs around the area. The recent increase in pug rescues is causing a need for more help and donations for the group. They need all the support possible for their great cause.

The Best!
by: K Bye

DFW Pug Rescue is the best. All pugs are rescued no matter their health, age, or condition. Not all rescues are willing to take on such a challenge. It seems that each year more and more pugs find themselves in the rescue and no matter what DFW Pug Rescue pulls together to make magic happen. The world is a better place with pugs :)

What an amazing organization!
by: Lauren Davis-Gorman

The people who work for this wonderful organization dedicate so much of their time, money, and energy to helping these sweet animals. Many of these pugs come from deplorable conditions, or have been dumped on the side of the road, practically starving to death. DFW Pug Rescue is the only reason why these precious dogs get a second chance at life. And they have so much love to give!
Please help this amazing group help the pugs.

DFW Pug Rescue is the greatest!
by: Jill Shaw

This organization is the greatest since they take ALL pugs no matter the circumstance or condition of the pug. I adopted a senior pug from them a little over a year ago and I hope to adopt more in the future. All of the dogs are checked out by a vet and then go to a foster home and live in a loving family environment until adopted. I wish more people would go to shelters or rescue organizations for their pets.

by: Anonymous

We have gotten a pug from this group, and we were far beyond impressed. They do a fantastic job, and take all pugs regardless of ages. They spend so much time and effort putting into these pugs in need of care. It truly is amazing to see how many pugs have been saved and put in to great homes. I believe they are one of the best rescues by far.

DFW Pug Rescue
by: Teresa Santos

DFW Pug Rescue works endlessly to rescue pugs NO matter what medical condition. The dedication of volunteers that make this happen is phenomenal. They have not had to refuse a pug in the 13 years of existence. They always pay their vet bills and have a great state ranking. When money runs low, the volunteers kick it up a notch to ensure money is raised. Keep it up DFWPRC, your work does not go unnoticed.
